Assistant Professor Kyle Langvardt recently published Platform Speech Governance and the First Amendment: A User-Centered Approach, which is the first paper in "The Digital Social Contract" series for Lawfare Dec. 8. In the paper Langvardt explores the intersection of the First Amendment and governance of platform content, and theorizes that "when a law regulates the dominant platforms’ content policies, the law’s downstream effects on the speech of users should determine whether it violates the First Amendment."
