The Nebraska Law team of Steve Sherman, ’26, and Jenna Stevens, ’26, finished in first place during the ABA Regional Client Counseling Competition at Texas Southern Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston. The Nebraska Law team of Isabel Cheesman, ’25, and Kyle Kelley, ’25, placed second. Both teams performed well and consistently demonstrated excellence in client counseling.

Each team completed two in-person intake interviews with "clients" (played by actors) and wrote a memo-to-file regarding a third recorded intake. The top six semifinalist teams completed another interview in a head-to-head matchup, and the final three teams conducted one last interview for the championship. This year's clients faced legal issues relating to employment law.

The regional competition hosted 17 teams representing 9 law schools from across the country.

Sherman and Stevens will represent Nebraska Law at the National Competition at the University of Missouri-Columbia in March.

The Nebraska Law Client Counseling team is coach by Professor Brett Stohs and Audrey Polt, ’12.
