Professor Michelle Paxton presented, Partnering with Guardians ad Litem to Ensure Safety and Well-being for Children and Youth Experiencing Domestic Violence at “Reclaiming Hope: A Statewide Conference to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.” The presentation provided an overview of the juvenile and child systems and how interventions could exacerbate harm or serve to promote healing. It provided practical tips for providers on communicating with professionals including the Guardian ad Litem.
Paxton also presented Children’s Justice Attorney Education Fellowship Program: Preventing Legal Deserts in Our Rural Communities at the Nebraska Young Child Institute Conference. The presentation provided an overview of the University of Nebraska College of Law’s Children’s Justice Attorney Education Fellowship Program.
