University of Nebraska College of Law students Hannah-Kate Kinney, ’27, and Jack Kinney, ’27, were named champions at the Wayne State Taft Transactional Law Invitational, beating teams from 19 other law schools in complex business negotiation challenges.
The sister-brother duo demonstrated exceptional skill in legal drafting and client representation during the competition. A panel of Detroit M&A attorneys judged both the written drafts and the live negotiation sessions, providing individualized feedback and determining which teams most effectively represented their clients based on competition guidelines.
This is Nebraska Law’s second consecutive win in the Wayne State Taft Transactional Law Invitational. The team of Ben King, Steve Sherman and Caden Erickson won in 2025.
