On-Campus Interviews (OCI), whether held in person or virtually, remain one of the most effective ways for employers to connect with Nebraska Law students.
Spring OCI has long been a strong pipeline for student placement. When the pandemic pushed all interviews online in 2020, we weren’t sure how long it would take to rebuild participation. Not only has it rebounded—it has surpassed historical levels.
A Five-Year Growth Trend
Spring 2025 – 78 employers
Spring 2024 – 70 employers
Spring 2023 – 62 employers
Spring 2022 – 57 employers
Spring 2021 – 45 employers
This past spring alone, 78 employers participated in our recruiting season. Sixty-nine of those employers visited campus, and nine chose to interview virtually (employers from six states as well as three western Nebraska employers conducted their initial interviews online). This hybrid approach continues to give employers maximum flexibility and students expanded access. It truly is the best of both worlds.
A Student Body Ready for Local and National Opportunities
While many students choose to stay in Nebraska (historically 65-75%), we also have a strong group of highly qualified candidates eager to consider regional and national opportunities. Consider the following:
- Our last two entering classes have been 50% or more out-of-state students.
- 33% of the Class of 2024 relocated to other states to begin their legal careers.
- During Summer 2025, students worked in 21 different states.
Why Employers Recruit at Nebraska Law
Employers consistently tell us that Nebraska Law students are well prepared and practice-ready, thanks to:
- A robust first-year Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research (LAWR) program that equips students with the writing and research skills essential for a successful summer.
- A reputation for professionalism, strong work ethic, and readiness to contribute on day one.
- Legal clinics that give students hands-on experience with real clients.
- A strong externship program that places students in courts, government agencies, nonprofits, and corporate settings.
