Four third-year students at the University of Nebraska College of Law—Jadon Smith, Kalie Saunders, Keegan Huffman, and Dylan Insalaco—have been selected for commission into the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps following graduation. The selection process is highly competitive, and the College of Law is proud to see multiple students entering this esteemed branch of military legal service.

As JAG officers, the students will provide legal counsel across a wide range of areas including military justice, international law, operational law, and legal assistance. They will serve in key advisory roles both in the United States and around the world, contributing to the Air Force mission by upholding the rule of law in diverse and dynamic settings.

All four students pursued relevant academic and extracurricular experiences through Nebraska Law’s nationally recognized Space, Cyber, and National Security Law Program, including concentrations and the Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition. During their time in the program, they had the opportunity to meet and learn from active-duty Air Force JAGs who were enrolled in the College’s LL.M. program, gaining insight into the real-world applications of national security and operational law. Their selection underscores the College’s strength in producing practice-ready graduates committed to public service and national security.
