Andrew Dominguez Farias, ’27, has been selected as a John Robert Lewis Fellow through the Faith and Politics Institute, a national honor recognizing emerging leaders committed to advancing justice through nonviolent advocacy.
The competitive, year-long John Robert Lewis Scholars and Fellows Program selects twenty undergraduate and graduate students from across the country who aspire to create meaningful societal change. Rooted in the philosophy of nonviolent social impact championed by Congressman John Lewis, the program cultivates disciplined leaders prepared to serve their communities with integrity.
Throughout the year, Andrew will travel to Washington, D.C., to engage with national leaders and activists, study the history and strategy of nonviolence, and visit sites central to the African American Freedom struggle, including the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site. Scholars and Fellows explore how the principles that shaped the Civil Rights Movement remain relevant to today’s most pressing challenges.
In the program’s final phase, Andrew will participate in the Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage in Alabama, retracing the path civil rights activists walked during Bloody Sunday in Selma on March 7, 1965.
