University of Nebraska College of Law students Ben King, ’27, Steve Sherman, ’27, and Caden Erickson, ’27, won top honors at the Wayne State Taft Transactional Law Invitational, beating law school teams from across the nation in complex business negotiation challenges.

The team demonstrated exceptional skills in legal drafting and client representation during the competition, which evaluated participants through two rounds of negotiations judged by Detroit attorneys.

Participants spent the winter semester preparing detailed transactional agreements and developing strategic negotiation approaches before competing in the final event. The 2025 problem involved the merger of a national cosmetics brand.
