Nebraska Law's LL.M. in Space, Cyber, and National Security Law prepares attorneys and legal professionals to address some of the most complex legal and policy challenges facing governments, military organizations, and private industry. As technology continues to reshape global security, communications, and commerce, lawyers with expertise in these interconnected fields are increasingly in demand.
Students explore the laws and regulations governing space activities, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, military operations, and national security while working closely with nationally recognized faculty and a small cohort of peers. The program is available in both a full-time, on-campus format and a part-time online format designed for working professionals.

Online LL.M.
Designed for experienced attorneys and professionals who wish to earn an LL.M. while continuing to work full time.

Online students attend classes synchronously alongside residential students and participate in the same coursework, discussions, and academic requirements.

Degree Requirements
Comprised of 24 total credit hours, the program provides both structure and flexibility. Required coursework introduces students to each of the three domains while allowing space for further specialization. Students may elect to follow either a thesis or non-thesis pathway. Many build a focused area of study while exploring the broader legal and policy issues that shape space, cyber, and national security law.

One of the greatest strengths of Nebraska Law’s Space, Cyber, and National Security Law LL.M. program is its close-knit community. Because the cohort is intentionally small, students quickly get to know one another and build lasting professional and personal connections. Faculty are accessible, classmates collaborate rather than compete, and alumni remain actively engaged in the life of the program. With students from military, government, and private-sector backgrounds, discussions are enriched by a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

Career Services and Alumni Placement
There are a number of different career sectors in our program areas, ranging from private industry, to policy, to national security. The majority of program alumni will take positions within the government or Department of Defense, while others are spread across the private sector, think tanks, and law firms LL.M. students are offered personalized career coaching and a job seekers plan to help them be in the best place possible when seeking employment in these fields.
Approximately 60% of our graduates enter government service, including:
- U.S. Space Force, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps JAG Corps
- NASA, FAA, FCC, FTC, and the State Department
- U.S. Strategic Command, U.S. Space Command, and the Defense Intelligence Agency
Others work with launch providers, satellite manufacturers, defense contractors, and law firms and think tanks specializing in aerospace, cyber, and regulatory law.
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must create an account on the Law School Admission Council website and select the application for the Nebraska Law LL.M. Space, Cyber and National Security Law Program. You must apply via LSAC, we do not accept materials via email.
We require a personal statement, all undergraduate and law college transcripts, the LSAC application questionnaire, a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 letters of recommendation, and a resume.
We accept applications at all times, but priority deadlines for admission are September 1st for a Spring Semester start, and March 1st for a Fall Semester start.
International Applicants
The LL.M. program is open to applicants who hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school as well as individuals who hold a law degree from a foreign institution.
Applicants whose native language is not English must submit proof of English proficiency. A TOEFL score of 100 or higher on the internet-based exam is preferred. IELTS scores of 7.0 or higher may also be considered.
Please note that the program is designed to provide advanced specialization in space, cyber, and national security law and is not intended as a general introduction to U.S. law.
