Biography
Jessica Murphy joined the Nebraska College of Law in 2024 as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Criminal Clinic. Previously, Professor Murphy served as a Deputy County Attorney for 13 years, where she prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, including domestic and sexual assaults, homicides, thefts, and drug crimes.
An experienced litigator, she previously taught Trial Advocacy as an adjunct professor for the College of Law. Professor Murphy remains deeply involved in the legal community as an active member of the Nebraska County Attorneys Association and the Robert Van Pelt Inns of Court. She also serves as the reporter for the Nebraska Criminal Jury Instruction Manual. Professor Murphy earned her B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her J.D., with distinction, from the Nebraska College of Law.
Courses
Criminal Clinic Law 799C (3-6 cr hr)
Limited enrollment pursuant to an application process. Cases are prosecuted through the Lancaster County Attorney's Office and the practice component is conducted out of that office. Participation in a seminar concentrating on the development of skills necessary to the prosecution of criminal cases is required. Prosecute a variety of misdemeanor offenses under the close supervision of a faculty member.
