Our Mission, Vision & Core Values

The Mourning Hope Grief Center companions children, adults and families before and after a death loss. Mourning Hope provides grief support groups, counseling, community education, resources, and referrals.

Vision statement: No one has to grieve alone. 

The Mourning Hope Grief Center will achieve this vision by adhering to these core values:

  • Growth: Mourning Hope continually expands support opportunities to serve more children, adults, and families.
  • Relationships: Mourning Hope serves as a safe haven of support, connection, hope, companionship and unconditional acceptance.
  • Inclusivity: Mourning Hope embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion to intentionally make space for all, regardless of their race, religion, color, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any such attribute.

Meetings & Committees

Board Meetings – 2nd Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7:00 

Executive Committee – 1st Wednesday of every month at 5:30 (2–2.5 hours) The extern would likely be invited to attend/observe some executive meetings.

Governance Committee – Meets as needed (Mourning Hope is particularly interested in involving an extern in the governance committee, as their bylaws need updating and they feel it would be a good learning experience.)

Task Forces – Fundraising, Marketing, HR, Programming, Events

  • Commitment to “showing up.” 

*Mourning Hope welcomes the perspective of those who have experienced child or adult loss grief, but it is not required.
