Mission: To alleviate hunger in Southeast Nebraska. 

Vision: Nourishing our communities to end hunger.

Meetings & Committees

Board Meetings – Third Wednesday of every other month, from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in February, April, June, August, October, December 

Executive Committee – Third Wednesday of every other month, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at a local dining establishment. The extern would likely be invited to attend/observe some executive meetings.

Other Committees – Finance, Development  



Board Member Characteristics/Expectations

  • Commit to the Food Bank’s Mission: demonstrate curiosity about programs, services, and engagement opportunities 
  • Be responsible for the financial well-being of the organization 
  • Advocate for the Food Bank
  • Attend board meetings and participate in Committee work 
  • Participate in direct service activity and support fundraising and engagement activities 
  • Participate in formulation and monitoring of strategic goals 
  • Be free of conflict of interest 
  • Team oriented
