Elsbeth Magilton, ’11, the executive director of the Nebraska Governance and Technology Center and the Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications Law program recently provided a lecture series on commercial space issues for the New Zealand and Australian Space Council on behalf of the U.S. Consulate in Auckland New Zealand. The series was part of the U.S. State Department Speakers Exchange Program, where Magilton has been active since 2018. The virtual sessions focused on U.S. space legislation, as well as the commercial and military relationship in space.
In May, Magilton returned to in-person trainings, giving a lecture at the annual Missouri and Kansas National Guard Judge Advocate Continuing Legal Education Conference in Kansas City Missouri. The talk primarily covered the history of the military’s relationship to the space domain and current space hot topics.
Magilton continued to teach on issues in military space with the USSTRATCOM Strategic Leadership Fellows Program, where she was a guest lecturer in May. The Strategic Leadership Fellows Program is a graduate education-level leader development program for U.S. Strategic Command civilian employees. The program is designed to increase the students’ mission awareness and breadth of skills across command-specific areas by providing a cohesive set of exercises, applications, experiences, and projects to increase core competencies related to diverse issues of national security.
