Professors Jack Beard and Matt Schaefer both chaired panels at the American Branch of International Law Association’s International Law Weekend, traditionally held in New York City, but hosted remotely in 2020. The 99th Annual Meeting and International Law Weekend centered around the theme of International Law in Challenging Times.
Schaefer’s panel, held on October 23, entitled "Standard Setting or Outer Space Activities: Choice of Forums and Methods" featured discussion on legal process for space activities. Beard’s panel, held the same day, was entitled "From Accord back to Confrontation: The Return of the Iran Nuclear Crisis." Beard and Schaefer are both long time members of the Association and hold leadership roles on multiple committees.
