Final Exam Guidelines

THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE CRITICAL TO TAKING FINAL EXAMS. READ THEM ALL. FAILURE TO COMPLY CAN AFFECT YOUR FINALS.

Bring your own exension cord.

Windows Laptop Users:

Specific Windows Vista instructions
  1. Download Exam4 and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right click on the Exam4 file on your desktop and "run as administrator".
  3. "Allow" Exam4 to run and click on OK at the Exam4 intro screen.
  4. Click "Quit" on the Exam4 main menu screen.
  5. Right click on your new Exam4 (big red E) desktop icon.
  6. Click on Properties.
  7. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  8. Make sure the box at the bottom that says "run as administrator" is checked and click OK.
  9. Double click on Exam4 and grant access.
  10. Test OPEN and CLOSED mode using the Spring 08 Practice Course entry.

 

  • Download Exam4 at least two weeks before Finals.
  • Know how to use Exam4 before Finals.
  • Test Exam4 in both CLOSED and OPEN mode at least two weeks before Finals. Procrastinating may leave you out in the cold on the day of Finals.
  • Exam4 has known conflicts with the following software and they may need to be disabled or removed:
    • McAfee Antivirus/Security
    • Norton Antivirus/Security
    • File sharing programs such as Limewire, Bearshare, and Shareaza
    • AOL (not AIM)
    • Windows Remote Desktop

Mac Laptop Users:

  • Download Exam4 at least two weeks before Finals.
  • Know how to use Exam4 before Finals.
  • Test Exam4 in both CLOSED and OPEN mode at least two weeks before Finals. Procrastinating may leave you out in the cold on the day of Finals.
  • Exam4 will ask you for your Mac Password twice during the course of taking an exam, once to disable your network and at the end to enable networking. IF YOU DO NOT TYPE IN THE CORRECT PASSWORD, YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO SUBMIT YOUR EXAM.

Lab PC Users:

  • You must sign up for a Lab PC with Vicki Lill prior to the day of your final exam.
  • Exam4 is already loaded and tested.
  • DO NOT log out or restart the Lab PC until your final exam as been submitted and verified.

The College of Law is NOT responsible for any equipment failure during the exam, will not provide a back-up laptop, and will not allot extra time to enable students to address equipment failure. Students who experience equipment failure must continue the exam by writing on the exam. All other exam rules above, in the exam itself, and in the Honor Code pertain to computer users.
