Scholarship and Grant Funds

Through the generosity of many persons, the College of Law has a variety of sources available for financial aid, including:

Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by the College of Law and funded by contributions in memory of alumni of the College of Law.

The Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Amen Family Fund. Established by the Amen family in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Amen. Recipients are designated as Henry J. Amen Scholars.

Robert K. Andersen Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Jean Andersen in memory of her husband, a 1948 graduate of the College of Law.

Robert D. Baumfaulk Memorial Scholarship. Established by Mayme Severa to commemorate the life of Robert D. Baumfaulk, a 1956 graduate of the College of Law.

Edwin D. Beech Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Shirley Johnson, Claryce Ketterer and Marilyn McLaughlin in memory of their uncle, a 1923 graduate of the College of Law

The Jessie R. Bergquist Fund. Established by Jessie R. Bergquist in memory of her son, - Donald S. Bergquist, Jr., a 1952 graduate of the College of Law.

The John H. Binning Scholarship Fund. Established by Great West Casualty Company to commemorate the career of John H. Binning, a 1949 graduate of the College of Law on the occasion of his retirement as chairman of Great West Casualty.

The Jefferson H. Broady Scholarship Fund. Established by the Ernest C. Hodder family to commemorate the careers of Judges Jefferson H. Broady, Sr. and Jr.

Jon C. Bruning Scholarship. Established by Jon C. Bruning, a 1994 graduate of the College of Law

Judge Robert R. Camp Memorial Scholarship. Established by Rita Camp in memory of her husband, a 1955 graduate of the College of Law

The Gustav L. Cobb Scholarship Fund. Established by the late Gustav L. Cobb.

Jacob Warren Cohen Scholarship. Established in memory of Jacob Warren Cohen, a 1927 graduate of the College of Law.

The College of Law Centennial Scholarship Fund. Established by Prof. John Gradwohl of the College of Law faculty and Judge Jan Gradwohl during the celebration of the College of Law Centennial in 1992.

The Wilmer B. and Jessie S. Comstock Memorial Fund. Established by the Comstock family in memory of their parents, Wilmer B. and Jessie S. Comstock.

The Jack Devoe Scholarship Fund. Established by the late Louise Devoe in memory of her husband, a 1932 graduate of the College of Law.

David and Breta Dow Fund. Established by Charles E. and Suzanne O. Wright to honor the memories of David and Breta Dow.

The Dean H. and Floreen G. Eastman Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Established by the late Dean H. and Floreen G. Eastman.

The Ira S. Epstein Scholarship Fund. Established by Ira S. Epstein, a 1956 graduate of the College of Law.

The Martin N. Erck Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Mrs. Martin N. Erck to commemorate the career of her husband, a 1940 graduate of the College of Law.

Harold and Helen Felton Awards. Established by Helen Felton and Harold Felton, a 1928 graduate of the College of Law.

Dean Henry H. Foster Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Rupert A. Warren in memory of Henry H. Foster, former Dean of the College of Law

The Fraser Stryker Scholarship Fund. Established by the Omaha law firm of Fraser, Stryker, Veach, Vaughn, Meusey, Olson, Boyer & Block to honor the careers of Robert Fraser and Hird Stryker, Jr.

The Herman Ginsburg Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by the Lincoln law firm of Ginsburg, Rosenberg, Ginsburg, Cathcart, Curry & Gordon in memory of Herman Ginsburg, a 1925 graduate of the College of Law

The John C. Gourlay Memorial Scholarship. Established in memory of John C. Gourlay, former General Counsel of the University of Nebraska,

The Bernard and Elaine Gradwohl Scholarship Fund. Established by Prof. John Gradwohl of the College of Law faculty and Judge Jan Gradwohl in memory of Prof. Gradwohl's parents.

John and Jan Gradwohl The Access to Justice Scholarships. Established by College of Law alumni in appreciation of Professor John Gradwohl and Judge Jan Gradwohl's work.

John M. Gradwohl-Nebraska Council of School Attorneys Scholarship. Created by the Council to recognize the contribution of Prof. Gradwohl to the practice of school law in the State of Nebraska. This scholarship is preferentially given to students interested in school law or students who are former public school teachers or administrators.

The William 0. Hambel Memorial Fund. Established by Mary F. Haffner in memory of her husband, William 0. Hambel.

The Yale C. Holland Memorial Scholarship. Established by Gertrude C. Holland in memory of her husband, a 1925 graduate of the College of Law.

The William McKinley Holt Law Scholarship. Established by the late Vera Virginia Mehner in memory of her brother, William McKinley Holt, a 1921 graduate of the College of Law.

The Richard A. Huebner Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Marilyn Huebner in memory of her husband, a 1960 graduate of the College of Law.

The Hunter-Blessing Scholarship Fund. Established by the late Gerald T Whelan of the Hastings law firm of Whelan, Foote & Scherr to commemorate the careers of Alfred W. Blessing, a 1955 graduate of the College of Law, and Richard E. Hunter, a 1949 graduate of the College of Law.

The Elmer J. Jackson Law Scholarship Fund. Established by Plains Petroleum Company to commemorate the life of Elmer J. Jackson, a 1947 graduate of the College of Law, on the occasion of his retirement as chairman of Plains Petroleum Company

The Vantine A. James Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Dorothea James in memory of her husband, a 1932 graduate of the College of Law

Robert Lloyd Jeffrey Scholarship Fund. Established by Michael L. Jeffrey in honor of his father, Robert Lloyd Jeffrey, a 1949 graduate of the College of Law

The Philip G. Johnson-Great Plains Federal Tax Institute, Inc. Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by the Great Plains Federal Tax Institute, Inc., in memory of Philip G. Johnson, a 1957 graduate of the College of Law.

The Donna Karnes Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established in memory of Donna Karnes, a 1975 graduate of the College of Law

The John H. Keriakedes Scholarship Fund. Established by Mrs. John H. Keriakedes in memory of her husband, a 1934 graduate of the College of Law

The Theodore J. Kiesselbach Memorial Scholarship Fund. Established by Charlotte E. Kiesselbach in memory of her husband, a 1936 graduate of the College of Law.

The Winthrop and Frances Lane Foundation. Established by the late Frances Lane in honor of Winthrop B. Lane, a distinguished Nebraska attorney.

The Donald P. Lay Minority Scholarship Fund. Established by Virginia Korshoj in honor of the honorable Donald P. Lay, Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

The Gretchen Bechtel Lee Fund. Established by the late Gretchen Bechtol Lee to provide financial assistance to students at the College of Law

Baird Holm LLP Scholarship Fund.  Established by the Omaha law firm of Baird Holm LLP.

George Hope Brown Scholarship Fund.  Established by Joan and Stan Cross to commemorate the life of George Hope Brown of Banner County, Nebraska.

Paul D. Brunner Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Established by Marlene Brunner in memory of her son, Paul D. Brunner, a member of the class of 2007.

Kevin Colleran Law College Scholarship Fund.  Established by Karen Colleran, in memory of her husband, Kevin Colleran, a 1968 graduate of the College of Law.

Judge Walter H. Cropper Scholarship Fund.  Established by Walter H. Cropper, a 1948 graduate of the College of Law.

Lyle and Rita Gill Fund.  Established in memory of Lyle Gill, a 1940 graduate of the College of Law and his wife Rita Gill.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Scholarship.  Established by Barbara W. Schaefer, a 1978 graduate of the College of Law, and her husband Ronald W. Schaefer.

Olivia Guerra Keating Book Scholarship Fund.  Established by Olivia Guerra Keating, a 1976 graduate of the College of Law.

Paul C. Holmberg Scholarship Fund.  Established by Paul C. Holmberg, a 1924 graduate of the College of Law.

Merle and Frances Jones Fund.  Established by Merle Jones, a 1929 graduate of the College of Law, and his wife, Frances Jones.

Koley Jessen P.C. Scholarship Fund.  Established by the Omaha law firm of Koley Jessen P.C.

The Korba Family Scholarship Fund.  Established by Robert W. Korba, a 1968 graduate of the College of Law, and his wife, Jane Korba.

Kutak Rock Diversity Scholarship.  Established by the Omaha law firm of Kutak Rock LLP.

David A. Ludtke-Great Plains Federal Tax Institute, Inc. Scholarship Fund.  Established by the Great Plains Federal Tax Institute, Inc., in honor of David A. Ludtke.

Vern F. and Albert S. Knapp/Jeanette U. and William E. Lyons Scholarship Fund.  Established by Prof. William H. Lyons of the College of Law faculty and Prof. Karen V. Lyons, Associate Director of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Honors Program, in honor of their parents.

McGrath North Mullin & Kratz Endowed Scholarship Fund.  Established by the McGrath North Mullin & Kratz Foundation.

Todd A. Morrison International Scholarship Fund.  Established by Todd A. Morrison, a 1984 graduate of the College of Law.

The Jean & Rowland Nelson Scholarship in Government and Law.  Established by Mrs. Vada and Col. Barney Oldfield, in memory of Mrs. Oldfield’s sister and brother-in-law.

The Harvey and Susan Perlman Alumni Scholarship Fund.  Established by alumni of the College of Law in honor of Harvey Perlman, a 1966 graduate of the College of Law, and his wife, Susan Perlman.

Elmer B. Pierce Scholarship Fund.  Established by Deborah L. Pierce and Branch G. Pierce to commemorate the life of their father, Elmer B. Pierce, a 1939 graduate of the College of Law.

William R. Ross Scholarship Fund.  Established by Kathleen Ross to commemorate the life of her husband, William R. Ross, a 1958 graduate of the College of Law.

Barbara W. and Ronald W. Schaefer Scholarship Fund.  Established by Barbara W. Schaefer, a 1978 graduate of the College of Law, and her husband Ronald W. Schaefer.

Donald L. Shaneyfelt Scholarship.  Established by D. Lynn Robertson in memory of her husband, Donald L. Shaneyfelt, a 1950 graduate of the College of Law, and former Dean and Professor at the College of Law.

Fraser, Stryker - Ken Sharp Memorial Fund.  Established by the Omaha law firm of Fraser, Stryker, Meusey, Olson, Boyer & Bloch in memory of Ken Sharp, a 1981 graduate of the College of Law.

Brian Silverman Scholarship Fund.  Established by the Donald and Lorena Meier Foundation in honor of The Honorable Brian Silverman, a 1972 graduate of the College of Law.

Theodore C. Sorensen Fellowship Fund.  Established by Theodore C. Sorensen, a 1951 graduate of the College of Law.

Charles Thone Law College Scholarship Fund.  Established by Charles Thone, a 1949 graduate of the College of Law.

Dr. Norman W. Thorson Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Established by The Honorable Toni G. Thorson in memory of her husband, Norman W. Thorson, a 1977 graduate of the College of Law, and former Professor at the College of Law.
