He is an honors graduate of the University of Nebraska College of Law and served as a trial attorney in the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. An experienced mediator and mediation trainer, Paul came to MU in 2004 from the Mediation Center in Lincoln, NE, where he provided training, conflict resolution workshops for community organizations, and continuing education for mediators.
As a trainer, Paul sees his role as eliciting and facilitating participant’s own learning. Thus, workshops emphasize participation and learning from experience while conveying a composite of theory, methods, skills and attitudes. In this active learning approach, he uses discussion, activities, exercises and role plays in addition to brief presentations. He has provided a variety of trainings to numerous groups including the following examples:
• Basic Mediation Trainings (30 - 45 hours) for the MU Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution, the Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution, Nebraska Continuing Legal Education and the University of Nebraska College of Law;
