Professor Lucas joins the Nebraska faculty during the 2009-2010 academic year as a visiting professor, teaching Torts, Legal Profession, and Disability Law.  Professor Lucas has practiced law in the public and private sectors, served in all three branches of the federal government, and taught legal courses to undergraduate students, graduate students, and law students.

After graduating from law school, Professor Lucas was a trial lawyer/litigation associate in private practice, focusing on labor and employment law, insurance law, tort law, municipal law, and education law.  After gaining valuable trial and appellate experience in private practice, Professor Lucas turned to a government practice, where he served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Air Force.  After serving in the Air Force, Professor Lucas earned his LL.M. as the Arthur Mag Fellow of Law at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, focusing his studies on labor and employment law.  Professor Lucas then served as a law clerk to The Honorable William Jay Riley and The Honorable Pasco M. Bowman II, both of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  After his clerkships, Professor Lucas joined the faculty of Creighton University School of Law as a visiting professor.  Professor Lucas then served as district director for U.S. Congressman Lee Terry of Nebraska's Second Congressional District.  Professor Lucas then held numerous positions at Bellevue University, including Assistant Professor of Law and Political Science, Associate Director of the Center for American Vision and Values, Chair of the World Security and Strategic Studies Program, and Chair of the Political Science Department.  Before joining Nebraska’s faculty, Professor Lucas was a visiting professor at Stetson University College of Law.

Professor Lucas enjoys golfing, camping, investing, reading, writing, visiting with friends, watching sports, and riding his motorcycle.  He is also an enthusiastic Cubs fan.  He is married to Megan A. Lucas, who is the President and CEO of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.
