One of the best things about UNL Law is that the faculty, staff, and students really want to make the transition easy going into your first year. Before you even walk in the doors you get the opportunity to interact with an upper classman by signing up for the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters program, which matches incoming 1Ls with an upperclassman. We also offer a class specifically designed to help 1Ls transition called Skills Class. It’s an optional class where students work with the Dean of Students, professors, and upperclassmen to learn the skills you need to succeed in your first year – including everything from case briefing to test taking. It gives you the structure you need when you're first starting out and after that you just start building on those skills.
