Spring Break Shadow Registration
What is it?
The Spring Break Shadow Program is designed to enable law students to shadow attorneys in private practice, government agencies, the court system, or legal services and experience the law first hand. Thiswill be our third year of the program. Students and employers overwhelmingly have had good things to say about their experiences.
When is it?
This year, the program will run from Monday, March 17 to Friday, March 21, 2008. The total time commitment is up to the employer, but it is usual to commit either half a day or a full day to one or more students.
What do we need to do?
Employers simply conduct business as usual and let the student(s) observe and possibly participate in their routines. Guiding students around the office, letting them accompany you to court, or inviting them to sit in on a meeting are just a few examples of what could take place during the job shadow.
Here are a few quotes from prior participants:
“If I had known how much I would enjoy this experience I would have signed up to shadow more places!”
“This was an awesome experience. I think I learned more practical information in one day than half a year of law school…”
“I learned so much about practicing law in a relatively small firm (3 attorneys) in a small town.”
“Yes. It was fun, educational, and broadened my understanding and appreciation of the complexities of the federal judiciary. I also met some very intelligent and capable people.”
