Bar Examination Information
Graduation from the University of Nebraska College of Law permits students to take the bar examination in any of the fifty states as long as the particular state requirements are satisfied. Our graduates have established substantial pass rates for bar examinations in Nebraska and other states.
Each state has its own set of deadlines, reciprocity policies, admission by waiver procedures, and application processes for bar examinations. Students must be aware of the requirements of the jurisdiction in which they wish to sit for the bar. The Career Services Office maintains a current digest of the basic bar admission requirements for all fifty states and the District of Columbia. Students can also contact the bar association of any particular state to check deadlines and fees, download applications, and ask state-specific questions.

Students may also want to investigate whether or not there is a benefit to early registration for the state in which they plan to sit for the bar exam. A number of states offer discounts for individuals registering early. For example, a person who plans on taking the bar exam in Florida can save $425 by registering within the first 180 days of law school!
